Ayurvedic Diet for Winter

By Dr. Rutu Patel, Ayusaar Ayurveda. Published Mar 8, 2026. Category: Diet.

According to Ayurveda, winter is the season of Kapha and Vata. It is important to keep the body warm and nourished.

Foods to Include:

  • Warm Soups and Stews: Easy to digest and warming.
  • Root Vegetables: Carrots, beets, and sweet potatoes are grounding.
  • Spices: Ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, and black pepper help stimulate digestion and immunity.
  • Ghee: Lubricates the tissues and keeps the body warm.

Avoid cold, raw foods and iced drinks as they can dampen the digestive fire (Agni).
